Higgins made NO WIND, NO WAVES as his thesis project for his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Emerson College. the film was nominated 4 times for the annual Emerson College EVVY Awards, the largest professionally-juried student awards show in the US. The film won all four awards on the night of the show. for Best Production Design (Mykim Dang and Michael Allen Glover), Best Sound Design (Hiroki Sugiyama), Best Director (Julian Higgins), and, on behalf of all involved, Higgins took home the top award of the night, Best Cinematic Production.
